A company from Benalmádena inspects the Galeón Andalucía, which is in Benalmádena until Sunday

The Benalmádena company Andalú Sea Submarine Robotics – a pioneer in the use of underwater robots and drones for the recovery and repair of underwater equipment – has once again collaborated with the Nao Victoria Foundation, carrying out the inspection of the hull of the Andalusian Galleon, which is docked in Benalmádena until next Sunday.

This unique replica of the legendary Spanish galleons in history built in Punta Umbría and the Huelva capital, visits Benalmádena proud of the work it does as a floating museum of our maritime culture, traveling the world spreading our history and participating in major international events. Since its launch in 2010, it has already sailed more than dinners of thousands of nautical miles through oceans and seas such as the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, the China Sea, the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, making stops in ports of the four continents, such as Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila, New York or Quebec, as reported on their website.

The Andalusian Galleon is a replica of a 17th century Spanish galleon. Ships that starred in the commercial and cultural routes that for more than three centuries (16th-18th) linked Spain with America and the Philippines through the so-called fleets of the Indies. It was the longest sea route in duration and in route in the history of navigation.

It was built in 2009-2010 by the Nao Victoria Foundation, under the design and direction of Ignacio Fernández Vial, in the shipyards of Punta Umbría (Huelva) and launched on November 30, 2010. Between the years 2010 – 2016 he has sailed more than 48,000 nautical miles through the great oceans and seas of the world, stopping at ports on the four continents of the planet, participating in various cultural projects.

The Galeón Andalucía will remain open to the public until next Sunday the 26th from 10:00 to 19:00. Tickets can be purchased at the pier itself or here.

During thevisit to the galleon, in addition to knowing the replica of the ship that starred in the encounter between two worlds, you will also be able to enjoy the exhibition installed on board in which the historical events surrounding the feat led by Christopher Columbus in 1492 are narrated.
