A total of 156 Benalmadenses will benefit from the ‘Zero List’ project to reduce the dependency waiting list

The aging index of the Andalusian population is increasing and assistance needs are increasing, so the social policies of the PP and Cs of the Andalusian Government become crucial for dependent people. Benalmádena has joined the Zero List pilot project, which is intended to put an end to the cumbersome current process to process dependency aid and thus reduce the waiting list to zero, which currently has 156 people from Benalmadena.

The delegate for Equality, Social Policies and Conciliation of the Board in Malaga, María Dolores Fernández, went to Benalmádena to present this project to municipal officials, an action from which a total of five municipalities will benefit in Málaga.

The pilot project, which will last for seven months, proposes that the Territorial Services of the Andalusian Social Services and Dependency Agency carry out the management of a single appointment, to assess the dependency situation and in turn make the proposal Individual Care Program (PIA).

And it is that, at present, any family that has requested this assistance has been able to experience the delay in each of the steps to be taken by the Administration, a delay that sometimes lasts so much in time that even the situation of the dependent arrives to change, experiencing needs different from those expressed at the beginning of the procedure. In this sense, Fernández stressed that this action “will represent a great advance to achieve the priority objective of substantially reducing the dependency waiting list, and is part of a crash plan that includes the electronic window for the initial dependency procedures as well as the incorporation of 48 professionals for the province of Málaga ”.

For her part, Alicia Laddaga, mayor of Social Welfare, has favorably valued the initiative because, as she highlighted, “from now on with a single intervention by a social worker, and with the streamlining of all administrative procedures, it will be possible to give in a faster and more efficient way the necessary attention to the dependent person in a minimum time ”.
