Arroyo de la Miel Public Library honors Maravillas school on its 50th anniversary

Disseminate and publicize the rich documentary heritage kept in the Local Fund of the Arroyo de la Miel Public Library is the objective set by the Document of the month space, which, on this occasion, joins the tribute of the 50th anniversary of the Maravillas School.

Unlike other months, the number of documents exhibited has been expanded with some photographs and bulletins from the Local Library Fund along with other objects donated by the school itself.

At the beginning of the seventies, Benalmádena was in the throes of tourist and demographic development, a key moment for the City Council to support the project of the teacher Francisco Trujillo for create on Salvador Vicente de Arroyo de la Miel avenue a school that could teach Preschool, Basic General Education and, especially, Baccalaureate, so that students students did not have to travel to Torremolinos or Fuengirola.

In 1975, to keep the school open, five school employees formed a partnership: Francisco Lara, Antonio García, Carlos Hernández, Francisco Pérez and Ramón A. Seco, turning the Maravillas School into one of the most prestigious educational centers on the Costa of the sun.

Due to the urban growth achieved in our town at that time, the center became small and in September 2000, Enrique Bolín – the same mayor who did it in the first center – inaugurated the new Maravillas School, a work carried out by Construcciones Sando. Its new location on Calle Professor Santiago Rey houses an area of ​​5,600 square meters, with 30 classes and another 25 classrooms for workshops and laboratories, and sports facilities, also with great educational professionals.

Also noteworthy is its participation in the world of culture and sport, with exhibitions, workshops and, in particular, the Alezeia Teatro Youth Workshop, awarded the National Prize for Greco-Roman Youth Theater and its award-winning handball team.

The Library, with this small exhibition that can be enjoyed during this month of November, wishes to be a participant in this anniversary, wishing this center many more years in the world of education.
