Benalmádena celebrates the first cultural festival committed to sustainability

The Councilor for Culture, Pablo Centella, presented this morning the 1st Festival of Artists for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which will take place from December 2 to 8, with a poster that brings together numerous activities that will take place in various locations.

“In September 2015, 193 countries signed the so-called SDGs, a continuation of the United Nations Millennium Goals,” Centella recalled.

All the objectives converge in that of the sustainability and conservation of our planet, because option B does not exist, establishing 17 challenges with a multiple purpose, which could be summarized in the eradication of poverty, protecting the planet, and offering to all people a future of peace and prosperity.

“Today we present an event organized by the Spanish Association for Social Innovation, with the collaboration of the City Council, to show the social commitment of the world of culture to the SDGs,” Centella announced.

For his part, the president of the Spanish Association for Social Innovation, Ángel Arenas, has stated that “we need to act with the utmost urgency possible to transfer the importance of the SDGs to the whole of society from art.”

Likewise, he highlighted that “we wanted tocover all the spectra of art in the programming, with the presence of a multitude of artists, all related to the SDGs through their activity, and locations“, in addition to including a training activity of the Cifal Center from Malaga.

The person in charge of the festival’s programming, Fernando Blasco, has highlighted the versatile and eclectic nature of the program. “During seven days we will have 18 different activities,” he detailed. The festival’s program can be consulted here.
