The 14th Congress of the PSOE-A – held in the Torremolinos Congress Palace, a municipality where the Andalusian Socialist Federation (FSA) was founded 44 years ago – was closed this Sunday by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. After a negotiation, which lasted until dawn, between the socialist leader of Andalusia, Juan Espadas, and each of the eight provincial groupings, finally Malaga will have eight members in the executive of the Andalusian PSOE.
Benalmádena, through the Councilor for Urbanism, Buildings and Youth, Isabel Ruiz, -who will be Secretary of Children- achieves, for the first time, representation in the Regional Executive of the PSOE. For his part, the mayor, Víctor Navas, will be part of thePSOE de Andalucía Steering Committee.
As Ruiz told Ole Benalmádena, “I face the new stage, with great pride, knowing the responsibility that comes with representing Benalmádena and Málaga in the regional executive. I will work from the humility that characterizes those of us who live municipalism closely ”.
The Socialists faced their regional congress under the firm conviction that they need to rebuild their party and, at the same time, make their 46,000 militants and all their public offices believe that the “reconquest of Andalusia is possible in the next Andalusian elections”, as is as defended in her speech by the Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero.
The Benalmadense mayor explained to this medium, that “like the rest of the colleagues of the new regional executive, we began this new stage with the hope and objective of regaining the confidence of the citizens, and thus recovering the Government of the Junta de Andalucía”.
Regarding whether his new responsibility in the regional executive could affect his work in the benalmadense Consistory, Ruiz assured that “my participation in the regional executive will not affect my current job as councilor of the Benalmádena City Council, on the contrary: from this charge I will help Benalmádena and the interests of its citizens have more weight and presence in the regional policy ”.
Ruiz has a degree in Law and since 2019 she has led the Town Hall’s councils for Urbanism, Buildings and Youth and is also Secretary of Organization of the PSOE of Benalmádena.
Benalmádena has never had so much weight in the regional PSOE
On the other hand, Ruiz has valued that “undoubtedly, the PSOE of Benalmádena comes out clearly strengthened from this regional congress, obtaining not only a position in the Regional executive as is mine, but also representation in the steering committee, -reference to the mayor, Víctor Navas- which supposes the greatest representation that our group has ever had in regional party bodies ”.
For its part, from the PSOE of Benalmádena they understand that “this new responsibility and weight in the regional executive comes after years of intense work and dedication to municipal politics and the defense of the interests of the citizenry.”
