Benalmádena Flamenco Guitar Fest is back with four striking concerts

The fourth Benalmádena Flamenco Guitar Fest, organized by the Peña Flamenca La Repompatogether with the City Council, is resumed this year after the forced stoppage due to the pandemic. The schedule for this edition of this unavoidable event on the city’s cultural agenda consists of four concerts that will take place at the Casa de la Cultura until next december.

As explained by the president of the flamenco club, Manuel Hurtado, “this year we will celebrate four concerts on september 21, october 5, november 17 and december 14, and to choose the participating guitarists we have had the advice of the partner , music teacher and guitarist Andrés Cansino ”.

For his part, the Councilor for Culture, Pablo Centella, stressed that “we feel very comfortable working with the Peña Flamenca La Repompa, and happy that flamenco plays an important role in the cultural life of Benalmádena.”

All concerts will be held in the auditorium of the House of Culture on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., with a limited capacity of 97 people due to the pandemic. Regarding the program chosen for this fourth edition of the festival, Cansino assured that “it is very good and has been developed so that both an amateur and a person unfamiliar with the genre can attend the four concerts to enjoy a wide variety of schools. and styles that are sure to surprise you ”. Specifically, Gaspar Rodríguez (Estepona), Juan Diego Mateos (Jérez), José Manuel León (Algeciras) and Manuel Herrera (Seville) will be the guitarists that will make up the lineup.

“The four are incredible performers, authentic creators, who will perform in a small format, but each with their own proposal. For example, Gaspar Rodríguez will do a solo concert with the collaboration of the violinist Nelson Doblas; Juan Diego Mateos will perform a didactic concert, in which he will explain what sounds, accompanied by percussion; and Manuel Herrera will present a repertoire based on the oldest school of guitar ”, Cansino explained.
