Benalmádena suspends the two New Year’s Eve parties but maintains the static Three Kings Parade

The Councilor for Celebrations, Pilar Ramírez, announced today that the two New Year’s Eve parties organizedby her Delegation in Benalmádena Pueblo and Arroyo de la Miel will be suspended for health reasons. “Given the high incidence of the sixth wave of the pandemic in recent weeks, we have decided to suspend the New Year’s Eve parties as a preventive measure against the risk of new covid infections,” Ramírez reported.

The councilor explained that, given the characteristics of the New Year’s Eve celebration, “it is especially difficult to ensure compliance with essential health safety regulations in the face of the pandemic, such as maintaining social distance measures or the use of masks” .

Ramírez has stressed that “it is a measure that has already been announced by other nearby municipalities, such as Estepona, Malaga, Mijas, Torremolinos or Fuengirola.”

We have been waiting until the last minute in anticipation that the Junta de Andalucía would take new measures to stop the escalation of cases in recent weeks, offering municipalities adequate administrative support to suspend the New Year’s Eve festivities “, stressed the councilor, lamenting” the lack of support from the regional government. “

The councilor pointed out that “as a municipal government we have decided to prioritize responsibility and prudence above all else to ensure the health of citizens, and therefore we have opted for its suspension.”

The static Cavalcade continues

Ramírez has confirmed that the three Kings Parade on January 5,which this Christmas will have static format, yes it will be maintained“because it is a celebration of a very different nature from New Year’s Eve in which it is feasible to guarantee measures such as social distances and the use of masks ”.

“We hope that this Christmas will be the last in this long pandemic, and that in 2022 we can celebrate these holidays again normally and without restrictions,” he concluded.
