Flamenco art in detail in a photographic exhibition at the Casa de la Cultura

Flamenco lovers are in luck. If many are already counting the days left to the start of the Flamenco Week, which will arrive in mid-November, can already warm up engines this weekend with an exhibition that will host the House of Culture around flamenco art, the most universal Andalusian artistic expression.

This activity, promoted by the Peña La Repompa and the Department of Culture, collects 39 photographic images that portray flamenco dance, looking at its various gestures, positions, dresses or heels, and that are part of a much larger collection of the Sevillian photographer Paco Sanchez.

According to La Repompa’ssecretary, Carmelo Montero, “this exhibition shows that when we see a flamenco show, the eye is unable to detect everything that this art hides, although Paco Sánchez has been able to capture them with precision in these images.”

For his part, the mayor of Culture, Pablo Centella, stressed that the exhibition, -which comes from the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco-, stands as a prelude to the Flamenco Week, an event that was born with the main objective of paying tribute to flamenco coinciding with the anniversary of the declaration of flamenco as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO on November 16, 2010 in Nairobi.

Every autumn, for a decade now, this homage to Andalusian artistic expression par excellence delights the public with singing and guitar recitals, film screenings and didactic flamenco concerts, among other activities that usually take place in different stages of the city. the city.

The Benalmádena Flamenco Weekhas become a benchmark for flamenco in Malaga and also an important offer to taste the jondo art on the Costa del Sol highlights its teaching and didactic character, which they have also wanted to incorporate to show flamenco art to the youngest and encourage them to be aware of the importance of maintaining the culture of the Andalusian people.
