The new card to use the bus for free has been requested by 1,500 people in just ten days

Around1,500 people have already applied for the new card to be able to use the urban bus on line 103 for free, since the deadline was opened on January 14. The Councilor for Mobility and CEO of Innoben (a public company responsible for managing the municipal transport service), Javier Marín, announced this morning that the City Council will begin this week with the distribution of the new cards, which they will allow registered residents the completely free use of line 103 of the municipal public transport service.

As announced by the councilor, during this week applicants will be contacted by phone to inform them that their card is ready, and they will be offered three possible collection points: the Town Hall in Benalmádena Pueblo, the offices of Innoben (located in the Nautical Center in the Port) in Benalmádena Costa, and the Casa de la Cultura in Arroyo de la Miel.

The pick-up time at the Innoben headquarters and the Town Hall will be from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and at the Casa de la Cultura only on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“Thecollection places and times could be modified in the coming weeks depending on the demand, and we will announce it this way,” Marín clarified.

Marín stressed that “this measure reinforces the commitment by this government team to sustainable mobility, facilitating the free use of urban transport for citizens.”

How do I request my card?

The CEO of Innoben has recalled that citizens may request the card of two ways: by way telematics, by clicking on a banner that will appear on the main page of the City Council website or requesting them at the two Citizen Service Offices (OAC), in the Town Hall in Benalmádena Pueblo and in the building of Social Services in Arroyo de la Miel.

To request the card, the interested person must present their DNI, and issue an authorization for the local Administration to access their registration data, the cost of issuing being completely free, although in case of loss, two euros must be paid.

“Right now the card will only allow free use of line 103, but we want to be ambitious: we are working both on increasing the frequency of passage of this line, especially on the weekend slots in which we have detected certain shortcomings; like in the possible extension of its route so that it can reach other parts of the municipality, improvements that we hope to implement over the coming months”, the councilor announced.

Likewise, Marín stressed that “this measure, in addition to allowing economic savings for our neighbors, will facilitate a reduction in emissions of polluting gases into the atmosphere.”

This new card will replace those that previously provided free use of line 103 for retirees, students and people with disabilities. Although, in the case of students, their card will remain valid until the end of the course; and, in the case of older people, they will be able to keep the same card that they requested during its validity of four years.
