The Councilor for Youth, María Isabel Ruiz; and the Councilor for Sports, Joaquín Villazón, visited the Innova building this morning to report on a series of improvements, new activities and facilitiesthat this municipal building is incorporating, with a view to celebrating its first ten years of history.
Among the improvements, there is a new table tennis table, for which Ruiz thanked the Department of Sports and the Table Tennis Club for the Innova, since it involves incorporating a new discipline to the leisure and sports offer of Youth, thus joining activities such as aero flamenco, cross training, salsa or capoeira, whose athletes have recently participated in a championship in Bilbao.
“This incorporation is added to a package of improvements that we are developing in the Innova building and its surroundings,” explained the councilor, who explained that it has painted the multipurpose room, -a space in great demand that welcomes endless activities and which needed a makeover-, in addition to installsome mirrors, thus meeting a demand from users of outdoor sports activities.
The councilor thanked one of the bidders for Innova activities, specifically the person in charge of the flamenco workshop, since she was the promoter of the installation of mirrors in the multipurpose room.
The City Council will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Innova building in December with a series of actions. Specifically, the improvement of the facilities has already begun in 2019, with the creation of a calisthenics area and a mini basketball court, and in 2022, according to the mayor, The works will begin on the new access that will connect García Lorca avenue with the Arroyo library, in addition to completing the project to carry out a small extension of the skate-park that allows incorporating the surf-skate modality, an expansion of the calisthenics area and a new installation of the climbing wall, another of the activities that has emerged in recent years.
For his part, the mayor of Sports, explained that “we have installed three tables to practice table tennis, one in the Innova building because we understand that it is an ideal place to promote this sport among youth; and the other two in the oases of Malapesquera beach, another very crowded space with many young people ”.
“From the Department of Sports we are very happy for the work carried out by the Benalmádena Table Tennis Club, both at the sports level and in promoting the quarry: there are a large number of children in the municipality playing table tennis”, has valued the Councilor for Sports.
The installation of these new tables has been carried out with a playful purpose, so that people can contact this sport, and if they are interested they can contact the club to sign up for their sports school, explained Villazón, who has underlined the delegation’s commitment to promoting the practice of more sports. minority.
The installation of these tables on the promenade and the Innova building are part of the table tennis promotion plan proposed by the club in January of this year: their location corresponds to two emblematic points of Benalmádena, and, in the words of the secretary of the Benalmádena Table Tennis Club, Manuel Espinosa “we hope that they will contribute so that their users can enjoy this sport in a playful way”.
