Painting, wine tasting and music, protagonists today of the 1st Festival of Artists for the Sustainable Development Goals

The new social contract that is the2030 Agenda, – signed by 193 countries in September 2015-, is a global action plan that integrates the universal aspirations of human, economic, social and environmental progress. Its purpose is to achieve sustainable development for the entire planet, leaving no one behind. To achieve the sustainable development goals set in this universal alliance, it is essential to incorporate the broad and diverse field of culture and the humanities.

In this framework the 1st Festival of Artists for the SDGs held in Benalmádena until next December 8, and which started yesterday with a large holographic mural, the presentation of the photography contest, which will be active throughout the festival, and a world music concert, which was held last night at the Casa de la Juventud in Benalmádena Pueblo.

Today, Friday, the festival will bring Ana Ramos to the Jacaranda school in Benalmádena Pueblo, a versatile presenter and writer in love with music, who loves to promote music as a channel for promoting gender equality by disseminating artists female.

In the afternoon, at 5.30 pm, it will be the turn of José A. Heguedas, plastic artist, architect – he is currently working on the launch of an architectural creation line in line with the SDGs – and international somiller. The artist will carry out a striking activity at the Exhibition Center that, under the title Wines and Seas of the World, merges tasting and painting.

At 7:00 p.m., attendees will be delighted with a performance by the Benalmádena Choir, directed by Óscar Sánchez, which this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary.

On Saturday, the festival moves to theInnova building, where at 11 am you can enjoy themural art of AMAS, the Metropolitan Association of Social Artists. It is a group of seven interdisciplinary women from Malaga who make different artistic compositions, mainly urban art. References to gender equality, the environment and different social causes abound in her compositions.

At night, at 8:00 p.m., the House of Culture will host an exhibition of youth dance promoted by the Benalmadense company Danzamanía. At 8:45 pm, the experimental and interactive theaterwill take over from the hand ofPepa Gallegos, founder of the project TeatroEnCuestion, social theater for education and intervention with groups at risk in Malaga.

On Sunday, the festival chooses the Parque de la Paloma as its stage so that attendees can enjoy the Art of Surprise and cirquence show that will be offered by Jarrón Club, a Malaga association that has, among its main lines of action, the realization of the inclusive and social circus . This artistic collective has developed circus activities with groups with functional diversity or in homes for the elderly, transcending this discipline to turn it into a transformative tool. This activity will start at 12 noon.

In the evening, at 9:00 p.m., Chagüei will offer a concert at the Vinyl bar. This emerging band comes from the Malaga neighborhood of Palo. It is a trio that fuses flamenco, folklore and pop.

The Monday, at 11 a.m., at the historic center in Benalmádena Pueblo, the multidisciplinary artist, co-creator  of the Association of artisans of Priego de Córdoba and coordinator of several creativity workshops since 1998, Merche L. Valdivia will promote a participatory urban installation, within the low relief sculpture.

In the evening, at 9:00 p.m., the Kim pub will be the scene of the fusion of music and humor, which will come from the hands of Jesús Arenas, director of the Castilla-La Mancha Humor Festival, who has performed on stages throughout Spain with the most renowned comedians from within and outside the country.

On Tuesday, at 12.00 at El Bil Bil Castle, the poet and anthropologist Ángel Arenas will read the artists’ manifesto for the ODS with piano accompaniment. Arenas is a creative who has made interventions in more than 40 countries and is also a consultant for several international agencies and director of the Artists For SDGs platform.

In the evening, music will regain prominence with the concert, at 9:00 p.m., at the Vinyl bar of El Manin, a street poet and versatile artist. He sings, dances and even does beatboxing and accompanies artists such as Kanka, Izal, Rozalen, El Niño de la Hipoteca or Mr. Kilombo.

On Wednesday the 8th, the last day of this complete festival, at 11:00 am, the Plaza de Félix Solesio will witness a quick painting contest that will focus on biodiversity.

In the afternoon, the festival travels to the Pueblo Sol square, where from 5:00 p.m., a flashmoborganized by Guadalupe Díaz will take place, and in which associations from Benalmádena will participate.

The finishing touch to the festival will be the music. At 8:00 pm in the Plaza de La Mezquita, the Málaga band Los Executives will delight those present with a concert for biodiversity.
