The 1st Festival of Artists for the SDGs invites today to a morning of circus and a night of flamenco fusion

The safeguarding and promotion of culture are two ends in themselves and, at the same time, another of many means to contribute directly to the achievement of many Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). And, the indirect benefits generated by culture have a cumulative effect, thanks to effective cultural-based activities aimed at achieving these goals set in the 2030 Agenda.

The cultural sector begins to open up to sustainability with programs that address the environmental crisis, gender equality or migration. In this way, they embrace different disciplines to put them in conversation with art and culture, understanding their transversal nature on the path to sustainable development. Proof of this is the first Festival of Artists for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that is held in Benalmádena until next December 8.

Benalmadenses and foreigners will be able to enjoy today Sunday the  Art of Surprise and circus show  that it will offer Club Jarrón in Parque de la Paloma from 12 noon. This Málaga association has, among its main lines of action, the realization of inclusive and social circus. This artistic collective has developed circus activities with groups with functional diversity or in homes for the elderly, transcending this discipline to turn it into a transformative tool.

The Tuesday, at 12.00 at the Castle El Bil Bil, the poet and anthropologist Ángel Arenas will read the artists’ manifesto for the SDGs with piano accompaniment. Arenas is a creative who has made interventions in more than 40 countries and is also a consultant for several international agencies and director of the Artists For SDGs platform.

At night, the music will regain prominence with the concert, at 9 pm, at the Vinyl bar  El Manin,  a street poet and versatile artist. Sing, dance and even do beatbox and accompanies artists like him on their tours KankaIzalRozalenEl niño de la Hipoteca o Mr. Kilombo.
