The Camino de la Fuentezuela is open to traffic after the improvement and expansion works

The mayor of Benalmádena, Víctor Navas; and the councilor for Roads and Works, Joaquín Villazón, inaugurated this morning, for its reopening to traffic today, the La Fuentezuela road, after the completion of the improvement and expansion works.

These works haveinvolved several monthsof execution because, according to Navas, problems occurred throughout its development, since “one of the slopes collapsed and, although fortunately there were no personal or material damages, it did cause delays in the completion of works”.

In the mayor’s opinion, “this action contributes a considerable aesthetic improvement and to road traffic at the entrances to the Ramón Rico sports center and the Benalmádena Pueblo international cemetery.”

For his part, Villazón -which has estimated theinvestment at 227,699 euros– explained that “with this action we have also achieved the removal of the electricity towers, burying all the electrical equipment in the environment, thus gaining new green areas”.


“We have managed not only to reorder the spaces with new green areas, but also to provide greater prominence to the building of the bullring, improving its integration into the environment ”, stressed the mayor, who in relation to the bullring, has confirmed that the City Council continues to work on the ideas contest “that brings a new use to this building, respecting the image and aesthetics that the bullring has maintained up to now”.

The first mayor has stressed that “As the neighbors can see, these works have not supposed to tear down the bullring, as from some areas of the opposition they spread and recalled that the bullring It has been closed since 2011, and that there are reports from municipal technicians certifying its state of ruin,“which is why we must find a solution for the building, and we are working on it.”

“The idea is, through the aforementioned contest of ideas, to propose a project for its conversion into a building for cultural and multipurpose use, which allows all kinds of acts and events to be held,” Navas explained.
