The guitarist Juan Diego Mateos fills the Casa de la Cultura with flamenco art today

The Casa de la Cultura hosts tonight, at 8.30 pm, the second concert of the fourth edition of Benalmádena Flamenco Guitar Fest, a festival organized by the Peña Flamenca La Repompain collaboration with the Culture Area. Flamenco lovers will be able to enjoy today the art of Juan Diego Mateos, guitarist and composer from Jerez de la Frontera, who began his studies with this instrument when he was barely ten years old, completing his training with the great maestro Manolo Sanlúcar.

Joaquín Cortés, Antonio El Pipa, Herencia Gitana, Antonio Vargas, Merche Esmeralda and Antonio Canales are some of the flamenco figures with whom the Jerez-born guitarist has collaborated.

In fact, after collaborating in the studio with figures such as Remedios Amaya or Jorge Pardo, in 2003 he recorded his first album, Luminaria, with which he won the National Critics Award for the best guitar album. And it was six years later, in 2009, when he recorded his second album in Boston with the Bratislava Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition, he is the author of the book Interpretation Notebooks, a book that invites the reader to feel music in a different way, providing a theory that emerged during confinement.
