Benalmádena, thanks to its exceptional athletes, is present in most of the podiums of the national championships of different sports modalities. Four great warriors of the Sonkei Club raised the name of Benalmádena to the top in the grand final of the National Karate Championship held in Ávila last Friday 16 and Saturday 17 December, in which more than 900 athletes of all ages and the eight best Spanish karate players in each modality gathered.
The Benalmádena karate men had some intense days, but they returned to Benalmádena full of successes, standing out among the best in the country in their categories after competing with excellence in the final phase of the national championship, where not all are lucky enough to be able to arrive.
Ornella Rocha Pepermans managed to climb to the top of the podium with a gold medal that served to be awarded as Grand Winner, being the best female child karate fighter, kata modality, in the country.
His teammates from the Sonkei Club of Benalmádena also shone with their own light in this great finalof the National Karate Championship.
The Benalmádena Antonio Santos Fuentes and Kira Berutti Vázquez took both bronzes in the kumite modality, where the athlete puts his physical and mental abilities into practice against a physical opponent. Likewise, Alba Marfil Hurtado, from Benalmadena, -although she passed her first two rounds gracefully, the bronze was resisted- took a not inconsiderable fourth place in Kata modality.
