During the past weekend the final of the Andalusian Chess Division of Honor, in which the six best Andalusian teams fought to become the new champion of the 2021 season, and where the benalmadense team finally ended in third place on the podium.
Naxfor Benalmádena has had a great tournament both in the regular phase and in the title phase, only clouded by a narrow defeat in the semifinals that deprived them of fighting for the championship. Even so, the team recovered and with a comfortable victory by 3.5 to 0.5 against Reina Brillante from Córdoba, they managed to take the bronze in the absolute top category. The silver went toNazarí and the gold to the PAI from Cádiz.
They have stood out for the Benalmadense team the Armenian Grand Master Karen Grigoryan, top100 mundial, who has achieved 90% of the possible points with a 9/10, unbeaten with eight victories and two draws in ten games, as well as the young local, the FIDE Master Yingrui Lin, current champion of Spain, cadet and World Cup representing our country.
Daniel Hidalgo, president of the Benalmádena Club, valued the third place obtained: “To think that only 3 and a half years ago we founded the club and that in only 4 seasons it has managed to lead Benalmádena to have the third best team in Andalusia sounds like science. -fiction. Now we are called by clubs from all over Spain asking us the secret and I always tell them the same thing, with enthusiasm and work you can achieve everything. Obviously we have had a City Council that has decided to bet on chess without hesitation and to which, together with our sponsor Naxfor, we have to thank where we have arrived ”.
