The ten reading clubs of the two public libraries of Benalmádena start a new season

The Benalmádena reading clubs begin a new season with an offer of eight, in different languages, at the Arroyo de la Miely public library and two at Manuel Altolaguirre in Benalmádena Pueblo.

The clubs are open to all citizens and are a group of people who meet periodically to comment on a book, which they can find in the library, and which they have read at the same time at home. In these meetings, not only the work is discussed from a literary point of view, but also the reflections and feelings that the plot, the characters or the subject matter arouses, and they stand as an excellent alternative to socialize, meet people with common interests and practice languages. .

The Councilor for Culture, Pablo Centella, has highlighted that the public libraries in Benalmádena “are not just book stores and study rooms, but authentic motors of cultural activity, contributing to the conversion of Benalmádena into a great cultural city”.

Pablo Rodríguez Guy has presented the Living art workshop, in which, as he advanced, “in addition to reading, we have included the direct practice of art, and all the participants will work with the materials of the plastic arts, going on to carry out an activity artistic in addition to analyzing it”.

As for the Zenobia Camprubí reading club, which has been active for 12 years, it will once again focus mainly on the contemporary novel, drawing on the books provided by the Andalusian Center for Letters. Land without men by Inma Chacón, or The patients of doctor García de Almudena Grandes will be two of the titles selected during the first quarter by this club, which meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Maite Ortigosa, a technician at the Arroyo de la Miel library, has encouraged citizens to participate in the municipality’s reading clubs and recalled that “we have a very wide cultural and educational offer, and in the Arroyo de la Miel library we also counted three monthly workshops: on art, music and self-knowledge”.

All the activities of both libraries can be consulted through the City Council website (HERE).
