They grant 15,000 euros to Afesol to promote the labor insertion of people with mental health problems

The City Council has awarded a grant of 15,000 euros to the Asociación de Familiares y Personas con Enfermedad Mental de la Costa del Sol (AFESOL) to give continuity to the orientation and job placement program for people with mental health problems, which this entity promoted last year.

This group, which carries out important social work in the city, launched this program a year ago through the sponsorship of the Department of Social Welfare, with the aim of promoting the labor insertion of people with mental health problems, with some disability or in a situation of social exclusion.

The councilor responsible for this area, Alicia Laddaga, explained that the program has begun to reap good results and proof of them is that “last summer it achieved the labor insertion of 27 people, and for this reason we have decided in 2021 to provide them with a new subsidy to give continuity ”.

For her part, the president of Afesol, Conchi Cuevas, -who has appreciated the collaboration of the Government team-, commented that this program was born because “after more than 22 years working with people with mental health problems, providing them with social and health support and continuity of care, we realized of the importance of providing them with a job ”.
