The mayor of Benalmádena, Víctor Navas; and the Councilor for Sports, Joaquín Villazón, have visited the covered pavilion of Arroyo de la Miel to check the result of the improvement works that are being undertaken there, and that they are currently in their final stretch, with the idea that the facilities will regain full activity at the beginning of February.
Specifically, they have verified the result of the installation of the new flooring in the covered pavilion of the Arroyo de la Miel sports center, some of the facilities, which they reported, had been using the same flooring for 25 years.
This improvement has involved an investment of around 250,000 euros, and, according to the Sports Councilor, “it has allowed us to take advantage of it to also paint the walls of the pavilion, and buy goals and a new scoreboard, all of which will bring a new image to the sports center” .
In the words of Villazón, “with this action we give continuity to the modernization process of sports facilities, in our desire to improve the service we offer to citizens.”
For his part, the mayor recalled that this action is in addition to others already carried out, such as the renovation of the athletics track and installation of artificial grass on the football field of this same sports center, or the renovation of the track of soccer in the sports center of Benalmádena Pueblo.
Ice Club Opening
As for future actions, the mayor has announced that theIce Club facilities will reopen shortly. Specifically, he specified that “we are completing the award process to a new company for its management, in the absence of any documentation from the successful bidder.”
Navas also announced that “we are working on the tender for the drafting of the project for the enclosure of the two outdoor sports courts of the Arroyo sports center, so that they become a new pavilion like this one and allow sports practice during the winter months, with the idea that the works begin at the end of the year ”. About 4 million euros will be invested in this project.
The first mayor has valued this initiative, together with the renovation of the Retamar field lawn, as “the two star projects in sports for this year”. He also regretted that the award of the works for the renovation of the Retamar track lawn was left deserted in its first call “due to the current situation caused by the pandemic, with a shortage and increased cost of some construction materials, although we are already working to to put this action out to tender again shortly ”.
