Today starts the new asphalt plan that will improve 38 streets of Benalmádena

A total of 16 linear kilometers spread over 38 streets in the municipality will be improved through the new Asphalting Plan that the City Council launched this morning with an investment of more than 1,245,000 euros.

The mayor, Víctor Navas, wanted first of all to “apologize to various communities and urbanizations: we have a commitment to them to pave the roads that pass through their surroundings, but first as a consequence of the pandemic, and later of the rise in prices and shortage of raw materials after the start of the war in Ukraine, many tenders for works have been abandoned, which has caused a delay in re-awarding contracts such as the 2021 and 2022 Asphalt Plans”.

In fact, in September 2022 the two contests for these asphalt plans were abandoned, and the City Council has managed to put them out to tender in record time, starting today the 2021 Asphalt Plan, which will last until mid-March.

The project involves paving 16 linear kilometers of streets and roads, in environments on the outskirts of the city such as the Torrequebrada, Santangelo Norte, Santangelo Este, Veracruz or Montealto urbanizations.

The streets included in this new asphalt plan are the following: Avenida de La Libertad, Lucero, de las Nieves, Avenida de Cuba, Avenida del Caribe, Avenida del Bierzo, Cristal, Coralina, Avenida Romeral, Zafiro, Coral, Topacio, Cuarzo , Avenida del Tomillar, Pacífico, Avenida de la Yedra, Camino de las Canteras, Monterrey, Acapulco, Helios, Athena, Fedra, Germany, Ronda del Golf Oeste, Denmark, Finland, Rudder, Avenida del Cantábrico, Avenida del Ínco, roundabout of los Mares, Avenida del Atlántico, Aegean Sea, Baltic Sea, Heliotrope, Mistletoe, Rhododendron, Ivy and Pablo Iglesias.

The mayor has pointed out that the one that begins today “will not be the only asphalt plan that we are implementing this legislature: we developed one in 2020 just before the start of the pandemic, which covered 13 linear kilometers; in addition to the one developed in the Marina, totaling some 32 linear kilometers of renewed asphalt, with an investment of just over 2.5 million euros”.

In this sense, he recalled that “it has always been a commitment of this government team to pave and resurface the roads of the municipality on a regular basis: when we became Mayor in 2015 we found ourselves in a situation in which many streets had gone decades without paved, for which the city was known as Benalbache”.

“Only in the 2015-2019 legislature we paved 57 linear kilometers of city streets, with an investment of 3.2 million euros, and in this we will add around 32 linear kilometers: we wanted to exceed the figure of the previous term, but the The pandemic has prevented us from acting as quickly as we wanted,” he pointed out.

“In addition, we will have a third asphalt plan this legislature, the one corresponding to 2022, which will cover 14 linear kilometers, and will be destined for the main avenues and the urban centers of Benalmádena Costa, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Pueblo”, he announced. .

Navas has once again recalled that the tender for the 2022 Asphalt Plan was also deserted last September, “but we are already in the phase of putting it out to tender again: I think we will arrive in time to face it before next May, but it depends on the development of the procedures administrative”.

Lastly, the mayor has expressed his commitment so that the asphalting works “distort the daily life of residents as little as possible: the works always generate inconvenience, but if we want to have a city in perfect condition we must undertake them”.
